This 5 minutes strawberry chia jam is so easy to make. This recipe only will take 5 minutes of your time, hence the name. Moreover, this strawberry chia jam is completely natural, vegan and refined sugar-free.
You only need 3 simple ingredients to make this strawberry chia jam. The result is an absolutely delicious and really nutritious jam that you can use in so many ways
- spread it on toast
- add to your yoghurt bowl
- use in baking
- enjoy by the spoon(and feel really good about it)
To make this 5 minutes strawberry chia jam I used strawberries, chia seeds and agave syrup.
If you have delicious fresh strawberries, of course, go ahead and use them. However, strawberry season has long gone already where I am. So the next best thing is, of course, frozen berries. They work perfectly for this recipe. And I definitely find them even sweeter than store-bought out of season berries. Because we freeze homegrown berries, my strawberries still had their little green tails attached. These green tails are completely edible, and since everything always gets blended, I don’t mind them. However, if you prefer, of course, you can remove them.
*If using frozen berries please allow sometime for them to defrost.
Worth mentioning that if you are picky about the final colour, you can use white chia seeds. Otherwise, any chia seeds will work for this recipe.
Moving on to sweeteners. As mentioned earlier, I used agave syrup here. I like it because it has a light colour and it tastes sweet and delicious.
Without a doubt instead of agave syrup, you can use
- Maple syrup
- Coconut sugar
- Coconut nectar
- Dates or date syrup
However, keep in mind that if you want to use whole dates is best to soak them in water before blending for the best results. And be ready that the colour of the jam will be less vibrant.
The best thing about making your jam is that you can regulate the sweetness and make it precisely to your liking. As a bonus which I stated earlier, this recipe is refined sugar-free already. But if you want to go the extra mile, you can make it completely sugar-free. You can do so by using the following options
- You can use stevia to sweeten it
- Or if you have really sweet strawberries you can skip all the sweeteners and just let the natural sweetness of the berries speak for itself.
This 5 minutes strawberry chia jam is raw, vegan and completely natural. Therefore the shelf life for it is much shorter than for regular jam. You can store it in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week. Another option that you have, you can make a big batch and freeze it in little jars. If you want to have chia jam in the morning, remove one pot from the freezer and place it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, it should be defrosted entirely, and you will have delicious and nutritious strawberry jam to use however you like.
