This recipe comes very handy when you have that chocolate cravings only brownie can solve.

   It really has it all fudgy brownie layer with awesome byte from walnuts and silky chocolate frosting. Just one serving of chocolate deliciousness provides you with 8 grams of protein and your daily vitamins B as well as Magnesium, Potassium and vitamin E. And best of all you can share this treat with all your friends because who is going to say no to the brownie?!

Black bean brownies with chocolate frosting

Ingredients
  

For the brownie layer

  • 150 gr black beans cooked
  • 80 gr dates
  • 150 gr plant based milk
  • 20 gr flax meal
  • 50 gr almond butter
  • 30 gr cacao powder
  • 80 gr walnuts
  • 50 gr chocolate chunks optional but recommended
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • pinch of salt

For the frosting

  • 50 gr dates
  • 50 gr warm coconut butter
  • 150 gr warm plant based milk
  • pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 170 degrees celsius.
  • Blend dates, black beans and plant based milk till completely smooth. Add the rest of the ingredients for the batter except walnuts and chocolate chunks and process till incorporated. Lastly add walnuts and chocolate chunks and pulse a few times. Pour the mixture in your prepared tin(use a parchment on the bottom for an easy removal) and bake for 25 minutes, allow to cool completely before removing from the tin, if you want to frost it.
  • For the frosting:
  • Blend all the ingredients together till completely smooth and place in the fridge, while brownie is cooling.
  • When ready to frost, take your brownie layer and gently with spatula spread your frosting across.

Notes

I like to leave them on the fridge to set completely and for the frosting to merry the brownie.
